about the works

“Painting is not easy, I have to reach way down inside myself, sort out what is important, really identify with it and bring it all out with good composition, profound light and dark and use colour as the final embellishment. I then invite the viewer to make the final judgment.”
Edward Fenwick Zuber
Ted finds a special pleasure in working with oils, his favourites are the relatively new alkyds. With them he finds it is possible to lay in a Grissaile or under painting on one day and glaze the next. Old world techniques combine well with modern methods and equipment, achieving a brilliance of which the old world masters could only dream.
The exact methods by which Ted produces his prints are a closely guarded secret and workshop even includes a piece of equipment for which he personally holds the patent. However, the basic process begins with the creation of a technically excellent to perfect large format photographic transparency. This is then digitized with a very high pixel count and the corrected image is printed utilizing a technology known as Giclée. This is accomplished with archival pigmented inks on 100% Rag Acid Free heavy weight museum quality paper.
Unlike most artists who have contracted the reproduction of their work to printers or other specialty companies, Ted views his prints as an extension of the original works and demands the same quality and detail in these as he does in his original works. As a result Ted is proud to produce his prints himself from the photography through the packaging and shipping and therefore takes pride in signing the limited edition certificate for every numbered print offered.
